Soloway Coffee - Opening Story
Soloway Cafe opened its doors in Chicago in 2024, founded by Iryna and Arthur Yuzvik. Our journey began in Ternopil, Ukraine, where we first launched Soloway Roastery in 2016.
Why "Soloway"? In Ukrainian, Soloway means Nightingale and carries significant cultural symbolism. It embodies the joy of fresh mornings and the happiness that comes with a new day. The nightingale wakes us with its song, much like how we hope to start your day with warmth and happiness.
Interestingly, "Soloway" also evokes the idea of a "Solo Way" — a reminder that you have the power of choice and the ability to shape your own path. At Soloway, we’re always here to help you make the right choice, so you can begin your day with a smile, a fresh cup of coffee, and a positive mood.

We’re excited to treat you with freshly baked croissants, cinnamon rolls, and canelés from our own bakery. Simple, delicious, and nutritious breakfast options like tuna sandwiches, avocado toast, turkey sandwiches, Ukrainian syrnyky, and more are already waiting for you at Soloway. Of course, we’ll also offer you a rich cup of coffee made with the same recipe used in our Ukrainian cafés: espresso, cappuccino, latte, pour-over, cold brew, and more. All of our products are the freshest and have been carefully selected by our team.
"When I come to Soloway with my 2.5-year-old daughter, I know she’ll be fed freshly made, tasty food. This is the place where I can be sure of what is served on my plate," says Iryna Yuzvik, one of the owners of Soloway Coffee.
